Sergey Surovikin was born on October 11, 1966, in Novosibirsk, Russia. He received a bachelor’s degree from the Omsk Higher Military Command School in 1987. He joined Frunze Military Academy. He also studied at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia.
Career
Sergey Surovikin became the General of the Army in 2021, the second-highest post in Russia. He was appointed as the commander of the Russian Armed Forces for the South Army Group during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. On October 8, 2022, Russia announced his name as the commander of all Russian forces in Ukraine replacing General Gennady Zhidko.
